Gameday Thread: Orioles @ Angels 7/25/2019 (Fletcher @ SS, Thaiss @ 3rd)

Last night's loss was nothing short of complete embarrassment - especially the B16th.  First position player to record a save in MLB history - against the Angels no less.  3 up and 3 down including $30M+ Pujols.  After taking the last 2 from the Dodgers this is the egg they lay at home against one of the absolute worst teams in baseball.

Even though Suarez pitched OK, he didn't pitch very deep. And therein lies the problem. If we can't get through the 5th or 6th inning without having to start the bullpen carousel, we're either going to run out of relievers or they're likely to be ineffective. We had a little taste of both last night.

If we are going to compete now and in the near future, we must trade for a starting pitcher. One who can (preferably) last into the 7th.

agreed. do we have any complete games by our starters this season?

I’m following the game on the radio. Terry Smith speculates Ramirez could be in New York to appeal his suspension for plunking Marisnick

Yeah if true it should. Langston also said they can’t replace his spot on the roster if Ramirez is in NY.

Smith and Langston are idiots

It's all on Eppler. He crapped the bed on Stratton, Havey, Cahill & Allen. Now we have to bring up AAA pitchers who barely have the stamina of 4 lousy innings.

He had terrible luck with the rotation.  He had good luck with the offense.

He would've needed good luck all the way around to challenge the Astros.

The Angels are about where most people thought they would be.  It just hasn't happened as expected.  The good news is they have a lot of flexibility next year and beyond.... when the Astros will be more vulnerable.
