I've always thought managers get too much blame... and too much credit. Even moreso nowadays.

Ausmus clearly had to use Simmons to replace La Stella, but he also realized he had the bases loaded in a one-run game so he first used Bour to hit, then he put Simmons in  

It turned out to be a good move. 

I’ll be honest Fletch, I think Bour jumped up and started getting ready before Ausmus even said anything. It seemed like more of a “I got this coach” moment and Brad trusted his guy to get it done. 

 

I could be be totally wrong, but that’s what it seemed like to me. Either way, I’ll give him credit.
