Eugenio Suarez for third base?

Suarez's line last year: 260/367/461 with 26 hrs and a 115 OPS+. Ended up with a 3.7 bWAR and a 4.1fwar.

 

The Reds need pitchers to eat innings, and we could send Skaggs along with some low-level prospects and probably get him. He's also a controllable player as he's not a free agent until 2021

Suarez is my favorite fit of everyone out there, will probably cost the most to get as well though. He’s the kind of guy who could end up sliding over to 2B if need be with his history at shortstop.

Senzel is ready so one would think the Reds would be willing to move Suarez. Would take more than Skaggs and "low level prospects". Would likely take Skaggs and some of our better low-level prospects. Small market teams would be intrigued by Suarez given how little service time he has racked up.

Suarez would be great. In the long-term, he could even be an option at 1B if disaster strikes. Having someone with his versatility would be great.

The Reds also don't have too great of a history of returns on their trades. For Frazier, they got Jose Peraza, who never really impressed me. The year before they traded Frazier, he had a 3.4 bWAR and I would think Skaggs would have around the same value as Peraza at the time (Only because of the Reds' pitching needs). They also got Brandon Dixon and Scott Schebler, who were both poor prospects.

It'd be nice if they could rope Iglesias into a Suarez trade as well.

Suarez would be one of my top choices to fill either 3b or 2b.  He may have over achieved a bit this year or he broke out and is going to keep ramping up as he enters his prime.  It's hard to tell which direction this goes for him.  As mentioned, it's gonna cost a substantial bounty to find out.  He's a very good defender with good power that walks a ton.  He really could solve the 3b problem for the next several years like Simmons did at SS.

.367 OBP for Suarez last year, definitely a career best for him.
