Question re: Leased Vehicle

I leased a van almost three years ago. I just leased a replacement vehicle this weekend, with two months still left on my van lease. I want to get rid of my van now. Basically, my options are to trade in the vehicle to Carmax right now and take a $900 bath on it, or give it back to Toyota at the end of the lease and take only a $400 loss.

For those of you who have traded in a leased vehicle, my questions are as follows: (1) are dealers nit picky on wear and tear? Can i expect the dealer to charge me a lot of money for minor scratches and a dent that needs to be popped out? (2) do leases typically have a disposition fee?

The dent will be an issue. Depending on how bad the scratches are they could be ignored, you should try polishing them out. Just make sure the carpets are cleaned really well with no hair fibers in the back and remove the duct tape, rope, trash bags and utility knife so you don't raise suspicion.

Thanks. Looks like there is a $350 disposition fee, so the decision is pretty easy. The van will be the property of Carmax soon enough.

Your frst one was a piece of shit so you decided to get another? Dude, consumer reports is your friend, go find something else.

Yeah, pretty dumb of me, huh?  I am hoping the new one is better.

Problem is, there aren't many vehicles in this class (large, seven passenger crossovers). Plus with the lease, it will be under warranty the entire time. It's actually a pretty damn nice vehicle.
