Kind of excited about this pick-up. Mid-to-high 90's heat, good GB%. Sort of fits the conversion-to-start profile (Ramirez, Bridwell, Vinson) as AO suggested too.

Still have 6 days to make it happen. There are still a lot of targets that could potentially help the team if they have cleared revocable waivers. I won't be surprised if we do something even if it is picking up another reliever or adding a veteran for bench depth or full-time duty.

I wonder why the Reds have problems hanging on to pitchers that throw that hard?  They delivered us JC Ramirez, and now Wood.  At the very least, he's a functional 6th inning guy who can get us a strikeout when it is needed.

We took Daniel Wright (who has been decent for us when used as a starter) and Abel de los Santos (who has been pretty good in the minors) from them for nothing as well. Eppler and Co. must see something going on in Cincinnati that the Reds aren't.

He's plucking most these guys off waivers though, so they aren't even going to get the chance to say not available.

The amount of production and control that Eppler has brought into this org the past two seasons relative to the amount he has given up is staggering.

Honestly, it's so nice having a gm who knows what he is doing and who we trust. You can actually have faith and be optimistic about questionable moves, and know a bad one was a risk that didn't pan out, and not a trend.

I hope he works out, but he's a 31 yo with a nice arm that has always had control issues.  would be great if he could take the innings we've been missing with Hernandez gone.
