When the Jacksonville Coliseum (demolished in 2003, and the location of my high school commencement) was built in the late 1950s, it was built with badminton in mind. Apparently badminton was huge for a brief period. The design made for odd sight lines for things like hockey, basketball and concerts.

i'd like to think that that decision spurred jacksonville to become the world headquarters of the badminton crowd, but i have a feeling it didn't.

Nope. The PGA Tour is headquartered just south of there, but those are the only birdies around.
