Romine = infield equivalent of Jeff Mathis. Great defense, no bat. Kinda like how until 2013* Peter Bourjos was the outfield equivalent of Jeff Mathis

There are no catchers in the system that are supposed to be the "future". Might as well play Conger consistently and find out if he's the guy of the future.

clutchness*. Conger is ranked 10/18 where Iannetta is 13/18 amongst angels batters according to Fangraphs.

That's only (goes to baseballrefernce.com) ... slightly more than 3x what Mathis put up in 2011. OK maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration on my part.

I think he calls pitches better than Iannetta.

IMO, Iannetta seems way too passive in where he sets up.

I don't think we should be complaining about either catcher's hitting.  Both guys have come through for the team, so far this season.  Defensively, Conger might be better, but Iannetta isn't bad or anything.

Ianetta has a high tendency to get hurt so I don't know why Scioscia doesn't give more playing time to Conger.
