They have a serious lack of top end talent. If Richards doesn't go back to being an ace, it's going to be a miserable season. Are there any elite free agent SPs next offseason?? We have 40 million coming off the books with CJ and Weaver being gone. I'd put 20 million of that towards a left fielder and the other 20 towards a starter

 

Next year is a weak free agent class.

 

Outfielders - Bautista, Reddick, Gomez, possibly Cespedes

 

Sub-par compared to this past year. Bautista and Reddick are rightfielders, Bautista is getting old. Gomez is an interesting option, although he might not want to move to LF. I could see Michael Saunders having a good year, and then the Angels over-paying for him.

 

Starters - Strasburg, Hellickson, Gio Gonzalez, Fister, Cashner

 

No true aces in that list. Strasburg is the jewel of the bunch, but he's not what he looked to be in 2010, more of a #2 type and will likely be overpaid.

Expectations should be basically zero for the next couple of seasons. I have no issue with Tropeano getting an extended look over Weaver and Wilson.

 

Expectations should always be low. It's the best way to keep one's sanity, and lower the blood pressure during the season.

When Stras came back last year, he looked like the ace he was always supposed to be.
