Its so easy to get base runners off Felix Hernandez. Lets do stupid things like hit and run on the first pitch, which was outside and unhittable anyway.

It's both a lack of talent + Sosh. They don't have good hitters and they don't have the type of players who can play the way Sosh loves his team to play. What you have is an offense that struggles to get on base(hitters that aren't good) + whenever they do get on base, they try to play Sosh's style of ball and instead further handicap their run scoring capabilities by getting outs on the base paths, etc
