In my opinion, other than Iannetta, this is about as ideal of a lineup as we can hope for.

This is probably the biggest game of the homestand. I think we can beat all the other starters we'll face including Sonny Gray. But Felix can really screw with our playoff chances tonight.

I think it's more that he's a veteran and might handle the young pitchers better than Perez.

 

That's the only reason I could think of for putting him in there.

I'd rather see Murphy at leadoff and Aybar lower in the order but it's not a big difference one way or another.

Today is must win. Tomorrow the Angels face Iwakuma and the Astros have Keuchel facing some pitcher I've never heard of with an ERA well above 5.

Keuchel gave up 9 runs the last time he faced the Rangers, so who knows what will happen.

Yeah, after I posted that comment, I realized that Aybar leading off is a failed experiment that Scioscia keeps reviving. I like Murphy leading off too.

Its so easy to get base runners off Felix Hernandez. Lets do stupid things like hit and run on the first pitch, which was outside and unhittable anyway.  

 

Absolutely stupid decisions like this is the reason why this team is struggling just to get the 2nd wild card.  No other team is handicapped by their idiot manager the way the Angels are.
