Who could step up?

Jose Mota said something after the game last night that I actually agred with. He said that it was time for one of the players to step up and call a players meeting. I totally agree, but the one person who could have done that now plays for Detroit!

There are informal leaders in any organizational hierarchy who play a significant role in the cohesiveness of a group. The Angel organization has so many problems right now, but I see this as one of the ones that is being overlooked. There isn't a single player on the team that can fulfill this role. Weaver could do it for the pitchers, but he can't do it for position players.

People can be fired and new personnel brought in, but I see minimal results with these actions because there still won't be the guy in the trenches that the other guys see as their leader. Informal leaders can get groups through the worst of times in spite of everything else going on within the organization.

So who can take on this role?
