I get what you guys are saying about it being too early in the season and I know he will have a ton of steals by the end of the season but my point is, isn't being aggresive and stealing bases the Angel's type of ball? I get it's only been 8 games but why should the team start playing their type of ball 2 or 3 weeks into the season and not start off that way?

Circumstances has a lot to do with it.  First, of those 9 opportunities, how many times was second base occupied.  I remember one time PB was on second so unless your calling a double steal (and success would be more dependent on PB getting to third) your not going to try for a steal.  A second factor might be the score of the game.  If the Angels are down 3 or 4 runs and it is late in the game, than the risk of a steal is not worth it.  You need base runners not players stealing second.  A third factor is that you don't want an open base for Pujols to be walked. Final factor was already mentioned, twice Trout took off and Aybar put it into play thus taking the opportunity away from Trout to steal.

That alone reduces Trouts opportunity to steal down to 6.
