Alonso being a former Oregon LB coming off a torn ACL.  He had a damn good rookie year in 2013 and more now than ever players can come back from injuries like that but still no guarantee about his production going forward.  Between trading McCoy and cutting Cole and Williams the Eagles have freed up about 30.5M in cap space once you take into account what Alonso will make.  I remember when there was talk they could try to trade McCoy to Oakland to move up to get Mariota.  That seemed to be writer speculation but there's multiple reports that Kelly wants Mariota and it would take a lot to move up high enough to get him.  Maybe all that cap space allows them to fill the needs that wouldn't be met through the draft if they send a lot of current and future picks off in a deal to move up.
