I wonder who KC will start

I'd say Game 1 is definitely going to be Duffy. He has been a solid pitcher for the Royals this year (2.53 ERA) but is just coming back from injury. He has only thrown a total of 8.0 innings in the last 30 days for them over 2 starts. One being a solid 6 inning, 0 ER performance, the other (the most recent) being a 2 inning, 4 ER performance in a very important game for them on their 2nd to last game of the regular season where a win would have put them at a tie with the Tigers for the division.

Can't wait to watch us crush Vargas.

I'm pumped guys.

PLAYOFF BASEBALL BABY

I doubt we see Vargas unless it's a relief appearance.

He was solid overall, but really struggled down the stretch. Vargas allowed at least 4 ERs in less than 6 innings of work in each of his last 4 starts. I could see them going with the hot hand and starting Jeremy Guthrie for Game 2 who won his last three starts of the season giving up only 1 ER in 20.1 innings of work.

I think we'll see:

Game 1: Danny Duffy

Game 2: Jeremy Guthrie

Game 3: James Shields

Game 4: Yordana Ventura (if necessary)

Game 5: Danny Duffy (if necessary)

I am guessing they will want to go to Ventura in game two so that they can bring him back for game five if necessary. We get Ventura and Shields three of the five games if need be, but that is better than facing Lester, Grey, and Samardizja in four of five games.

Ventura threw like 13 pitches last night. No reason he can't start game two, or even game one for that matter.

You mean other than he got the start on Sunday and came in relief yesterday after just 1 day of rest?

Game 2 might not be out of the question, but I'd imagine they would want to get him a little more rest than that. I'd say he would ideally for them go Game 3, but with Shields being available to go that game on normal rest, it's possible he could get pushed back to Game 4.
