Shoemaker poll

If you knew Shoe would be 100% for the ALCS if he skipped the ALDS, would you take your chances on leaving him off its roster?

Note: no guarantee that we'll go to the ALDS.

My pick is to get him assuredly healthy and try to win 3 games without him.

I do not believe we can win three games in the ALDS without Shoe pitching in one of those games.

It will be a moot point.  Shoe has been a AAAA player his whole career.  This year he breaks out and has a once in a lifetime chance to pitch in the playoffs.  Unless he is bedridden, I cannot see him telling the team that he isn't a 100% during the ALDS.  He is a warrior and he will go out then in extreme pain and pitch.  Not saying that best for the Angels, I just think that is what is going to happen.

Certainly we can. We just have to hit enough.

I can guarantee 100% that we will go to the ALDS.

Problem is that you still won't know if he will be at 100%. If he can pitch with minimum discomfort/pain effectively then you roll with him. Chances are we'll be playing the A's ... will be difficult to beat without Shoemaker.

Let's not forget that Shoemaker has zero post season experience and could get lit up like a Christmas tree on the big stage. We are in so now the crapshoot begins. And that goes for every playoff team.
