Bryce Harper injures thumb sliding head first into 3rd base

Recommended Posts

He's been placed on the DL, and the full extent of the injury will not be known until Monday or Tuesday. The fear is that he suffered ligament damage similar to Hamilton's.

“Doesn’t look good,” one person familiar with the  situation said.

“It sucks, definitely,” Harper said. “It’s part of baseball. You slide into the bag, and sometimes you catch your fingers. It’s just part of it. We’ll see where I’m at in 15 (days). I really hope I can get back at fast as I can.”

The third baseman was running away from the base to field the offline throw. Harper could have gone in standing up.

Now the Nationals will lose him for at least two months, and maybe longer.

That isn't true. The throw was right on the money it was Amarista on the bag, trying to catch the throw coming in. He dropped the ball trying to get the tag on Harper.

I must admit I didn't see the replay. I was going by multiple comments on Washington Post and other sites saying the 3rd baseman was off the bag. I should have stated, "according to some reports..." in my post.

Thank you for clarifying.
