Dear Mark Trumbo

Mark Trumbo went 0-for-4 in Monday's loss and is in a 1-for-25 slump.

The Angels really should have listened when the Pirates came calling for Trumbo last month. There aren't many right-handed hitters with more power than the 27-year-old, but he's now had 1,553 major league at-bats with a .301 OBP. In his last at-bat tonight, he struck out on three pitches with the bases loaded in the ninth.

It is odd because the first half of last season Trumbo showed patience at the plate and he did very well.  Since then, he has been a mess at the plate.

That said, he still has huge upside because of his power and a team with a real hitting coach may be able to help him.

The first pitch call sucked but let's be real. Trumbo would have K'd on 4 pitches instead of 3.

Ya, this was inspired by more than that 1 AB. Which bad call on the first pitch or no, was absolute garbage.

He has a ridiculously frustrating tendency to go from being locked in at the plate one month and destroying everything to looking like a dude who just learned about baseball, got hammered, and took the field.

He's not a bad player by any means, but he's one with gigantic flaws in his game that make him awfully frustrating, and keep him from being the middle of the order building block people want to see him as.

I'd rather have a pitcher with upside.
