Lol, what a joke.  Hanson gives up four SBs in the first inning, lazily fielded a bunt that went for a hit and two wild pitches.

That's true, but on the broadcast, Langston said that Hanson didn't take part in PFP drills (since he was starting tonight). That's no excuse for his poor fielding on that one play.

PFP in early August? Wow, that's just... wow.

 

That's about as close as Scioscia can come to publicly stating that he thinks the pitching sucks on the Angels.

 

That doesn't "just" happen.

 

PFP is done in Spring Training mostly for the benefit of the minor leaguers and not the big leaguers.

 

If Scioscia felt it was necessary to run PFP before the game tonight, and he wouldn't have unless it was absolutely necessary, it's a message to two parties: the pitchers to shape up fast, and the GM to get him a better pitching staff.

 

Basically he's saying "Your move, Dipoto, these guys suck".
