Wantz hasn't been the same since Nevin mistakenly sent him out for a second inning despite already being at a high in pitch count.

Maybe Wantz just sucks.

In that case, it was a great decision to put him in.

Because he wasn't at his 24 pitch Cinderella limit

He allowed 2 runs and had a 2 WHIP tonight. He was not good but yes, that second inning worked out for him. He has allowed 7 runs in his last four outings so I stand by my comment.

With that said, he was utterly dominant to start this season so hopefully he turns it around.

I agree with you.

This team is very consistent at being inconsistent.

Sandoval, Ohtani, Anderson, Canning, Suarez, even Detmer to some extent all struggling at the moment. Why can’t it go right just once!!?

#2 guy Sandoval with 3 runs and 50+ pitches in the first two innings was unexpected.

That type of coaching (fundamentals) is done at the high school level.

That is true, but doesn’t it make sense that when too many fundamental errors are happening, to work on them even at the MLB level?

I would hope they are, but so far too many of them are taking place.

I just know that to contend, it can’t become a habit.

Ward 1-16, OPS down to .636, and the power just isn’t there (8 XBHs).

In fact, he’s also not even being patient this month (only 2 BBs).

How long does he get before they platoon him with Moniak, who’s also the better defender?

Decisions need to be made to put the best team on the field.  And if feelings are hurt, oh well.  Regarding Ward, maybe we were all wrong to think he was a superstar after 6 great weeks.

Platooning should have started last night.

It’s idiotic that Moniak wasn’t in the lineup last night with a righty on the mound.
