So far I've loved what I've seen from him at the plate and he's looked decent defensively, though incredibly small sample size.

Dude has looked really good at the plate in these games so far!

Maybe a 1B platoon with Walsh if Upton can't play the position defensively?

I'm officially concerned about Rendon.

He was out with an injury and now not playing in a super short spring. I think something is wrong.

I think he'd have to play another position or two to make the squad.. It's tough to have just a 1B/DH type on your roster. Would have to play 3B or OF spot too you'd think.

If Upton struggles then maybe his bat could justify it? Though he's never played AA or AAA yet so he's likely a ways out.

Yeah, I think we might need to chill out a bit on him.  His numbers in college were very good, but not great--and he actually struggled some during his time in the indie leagues.  Sure, he had a great season last year, but it was only 86 games and he was 4-6 years older than the average player in the leagues he played in.  Could he be a legit late bloomer?  I guess.  But seems pretty premature to be talking about a platoon at 1B in the majors.

He is a great story and I wish him the best of luck.  With that said, it is only spring training and he should enjoy the time he has playing with the Angels.
