It's not the money -- it's the age of the players we sign. If we could land Trout for 10 years/$270 million you do it. This would buy out 6 years of free agency and take him through his age 32 season -- the same age our owner decided is when we should invest in $25 million a year, multiyear contracts...

That second contract has worked out so well for the Phillies.
