I understand the idea of the opener but also, I think it’s obvious that ideally you have 5 SP that can be reasonably relied on the navigate a major league line up several times.  A guy like Felix Pená belongs in the bullpen.  

I mean it’s obvious, but the fact that they have to use openers is an indictment of depth.
