Dana Point/Laguna Cliffs Marriott

I was invited to attend a conference there, and was wondering if it is worth going. Looks nice enough on the website.

Just wondering about the area. Never been. Is it worth extending it a few days for a mini vacation?

the area is pretty nice and on the expensive side, so plan ahead for meals.

Anywhere in that area is nice.  Looking on the map, Dana Point is nearby.  So you could also take the ferry to Catalina Island.  And if you are a diver, then you can do that off casino point on Catalina Island.  Just make sure you get a thick wetsuit.  And it's not that far to the stadium.

A really nice place.  I have stayed there before.  The area itself is nice too.

I lived in Dana Point for almost 30 years, most of them on a boat in the harbor. It was an awesome place when it was an unincorporated area, and started going down the tubes (as a place to live), the minute it was turned into a city. Eventually priced me out.

Still a great place to visit. If you decide to go I'll be happy to point you in the right direction for local secret spots (non-tourist).

A couple of really good Mexican restaurants. A couple of Tallships. The ocean Institute is cool. Some nice beaches. A place called Turks. It's nice.

Isn't that one of Stradlings?  I bet if @NJHalo pm'd him, Stradling would meet up with him.  Maybe even give him the nickel tour.  And maybe even make him donuts.

If you're so inclined, there's some fine cougar bars in that area. Or so I've heard.

I love that area, driving up and down the 1 there is pretty serene.

Never stayed at the Marriott but the Ritz is top notch.
