One of my favorite Mike Trout stats is the fact that he's finished in the top 2 of AL MVP voting in each of his five full years. Yes, two MVPs is impressive - but five top 2 is even more impressive, not only because he's only been eligible five times, but because of the variables and almost faddishness of the MVP vote, it means that he is the benchmark against which all other candidates are measured and must surpass in some way. In other words, if he were #2 every year for the next five years, with no other player being #1 more than once or twice, he'd still be the best player in baseball during that span.

Baseball Reference has Trout at a negative 0.2 Defensive WAR currently. That doesn't add up at all!
