Buy Low on Puig?

Then, just make Marte the everyday LF and sell off Maybin and/or Revere?

What have they got to lose that way, even?

One, Marte's defense just isn't going to be sufficient for LF, and two, we need to add more quality players, not just move what we have around. To be honest, I'm liking the idea of Marte serving as the corner bench bat and platoon mate with guys liked Valbuena and potentially Moustakas. Good teams have good depth.

I just don't think buying on a premium name like Puig is gonna make sense during the season. He's going to cost too much.

My overly simplistic approach right now would be to keep adding intriguing AAA players like Banuelos, Lamb, Campos, etc. during the season through waivers or minor trades, deal off most of the pending FAs at the deadline for a blend of high-floor upper minors talent and high-upside lower minors talent, give ample playing time to Cowart, Sherm, Ackley, Hermosillo and the aforementioned pitchers and trade returns, and then go into the offseason with a clearer picture of how our accumulated AAA depth/lotto-tickets are panning out. Sign Moustakas or Eduardo Nunez, sign Lorenzo Cain, Dyson, or Melky Cabrera, sign Addison Reed, and sign a SP - Pineda, Cobb, Darvish, Chatwood, etc. and let the performance of our AAA depth/lotto projects in Fall 2017 dictate how big of a splash we need to make, such as a do we need a Pineda to fill a Richards-esque role, or should we go cheaper/shorter and get by with a Estrada or Nolasco type, or if Herm plays well, go with Lorenzo Cain for 4 years vs. Melky Cabrera for one or two.

You don't tear apart the farm - in fact you add to it, even if only minimally - and you spend some money to boost the team without tying too much into one mega-contract.

Puig hasn't shown to be a premium name, totdprods.  Great defense, has the tools, but how long have they waited for the bat now?

He's going to cost close to a premium price at the very least though. The names the Dodgers will ask for are not the ones we are going to want to be giving up, at least not lightly.

He's still sporting a .800 OPS and 119 OPS+, his best since his All-Star season.

A Puig trade right now would be far from buying low. If anything, it'd be the Dodgers selling high. He's 26, and I think he's going to have a solid year and the Dogs will keep him for now.
