I don't think that's a 5 through 9 that anyone ever anticipated would be starting a major league game. Ever.

It's almost comical how many injuries we have had. We have like half of what was supposed to be Salt Lake's lineup starting every day for us. 

 

At least that gives us a little hope that we can improve once some guys get healthy. What a shitty season so far

But from an offensive standpoint, have any of the injuries really hurt us that much?  Gentry and Nava were garbage before they got hurt, and even though I'm not as big of a fan of Ortega as some others on here are, he's done reasonably well in their absence.  Simmons was also horrible before he got hurt. Pennington and Petit both actually have higher WAR than Simmons did before he went down.  Soto was supposed to be the backup to Perez all along, so while it's sad that he's hurt, too, I don't know how much of an impact his loss has made.

Injuries on the pitching side of things have hurt more, I think.  On the offensive side, the biggest issue has been under-performance (or, perhaps more accurately, a misjudgement of what could reasonably be expected) by certain guys.

Cowart made a pretty nice play there. I don't understand why they weren't playing him at 3rd and moving Escobar somewhere else from the get go.

Knowing the Angels luck this year Escobar will be out for the season and we will see a lot of Cowart.
