Remembering the 2015 Texas Rangers

Recommended Posts

Going into the season and shortly thereafter they lost Darvish (their ace), Holland their #2 and Harrison their #3/4 starters in the rotation.

They battled through a miserable first half, then turned it on in the second half with solid offense, a great bullpen and below average SP, before they traded for Cole Hamels.

Arte will undoubtedly have to fix this mess if we're hanging in there like a hair in a biscuit come June/July, and acquire a top arm like Hamels.

In the meantime, we just need to stick around and battle.

Have a little optimism, even though the outlook looks awful.

Or not, and we'll see you sometime midway in the 2017 season.

Exactly, just hang in there and battle.  Lot's of teams are going to have problems like this, the season is so long lot's of things will happen that can change the outcome.  At the very least we will get a read on some of our minor leaguers, and fringe players who will be thrust into more prominent roles.  It doesn't really do much good to ever focus on the outcome of a season, just take it a day at a time and deal with it the best you can.

Rangers had the minor league depth to trade for Hamels....we don't have enough depth to trade for Cole Porter....and he's been dead for 50 years.....But, you're right, nothing to do but hang in there....this is definitely a crossroads though....what Arte and Eppler do, one way or another, will chart the course of the franchise for a decade or so....sit tight, do little, you're probably stuck in a mediocre to less than mediocre rut for the foreseeable future....do an honest to goodness rebuild and it's going to be a rough several years (see Braves).....I expect something in between.....

The Braves have become g_d awful.   Not even the early Ted Turner Braves were this bad.

Will there be any fans left when they move from Turner Field?

I don't think they care -- the new park will bring in fans, and if they start winning around then they will keep them coming.
