It's time to promote Green - Demote Cron

Interestingly Grant Green is a total underachiever. First round pick, ahead of Trout, expected to stick at short, even be above average at the position yet the guy hasn't improved a lick defensively since then. He apparently can't cut it at any position on the field despite having all the physical tools. The A's gave up on him and the Angels refuse to give him a chance. It almost makes you think they are trying to tell him something...

I don't think he's been bad defensively, though. He's certainly stronger than Cron there. He's very versatile in the positions he can play. Every time the Angels have brought him up he's done well. He's done well in AAA. So it's confusing that they wouldn't give him a chance and would give up on him.

If they don't give him an extended chance to play, there's really no way for him to fully show what he can do. And if the Angels intend to keep him in Salt Lake Limbo indefinitely and never plan to use his talents, they should trade him to a team that WILL give him a shot to play.

The only real knock on him right now (offensively) is the lack of walks.   The exile of Grant Green is a curious thing.   But if they are considering Ben Revere to lead off it doesn't seem to be a priority anyway.

It's not like Cron knows how to take a walk, either.

The definition of insanity is throwing the same guys out there day after day and hoping to get different results. It's time to see what the likes of Green & Kubitza can do. Maybe they're not quite ready for prime time, then again, our LF and DH positions are especially not looking to be ready for prime time.

I'm honestly wondering about this. This guy has done everything he can possibly do. In addition to what you've mentioned, he's played well during the brief periods he's been up and he seems to have a really great, positive attitude and is a team player. There's no Earthly reason why he should still be in AAA and should be getting passed over again and again. Someone doesn't like this guy personally. It makes no sense that he hasn't been brought up and apparently isn't even being considered. And frankly if that's actually the reason -- that he somehow pissed someone off -- it's a poor reason to keep him down in AAA. The team could use him right now.

Angels will trade him for an over the hill veteran only for him to get flipped to a division rival and turn into the next Mike Napoli

That's the only thing I can think if, he must have pissed in someone's Cheerios. He's done EVERYTHING expected of someone to be in the majors. He's hitting in AAA, he's switched positions, he plays positions from which the Angels are getting little or no production from (LF, DH, 2B) he's sat the bench and hasn't complained to the media once.

How the Angels have planted him in AAA is really unfair to the team and him. So the only conclusion I can think if is that he pissed someone off along the way. I wouldn't say he 'd save the offense but he can certainly hit .290 with lots of doubles if given a consistent shot.

Napoli 2.0

Also, Giavotella did a nice job early in the year, and I like the energy he brings, but he's really not bringing much to the table.  Unless he's hitting for a high average, he doesn't have upside otherwise and he's probably not going to hit for a high average.

They might want to try bringing Ryan Jackson up or perhaps giving Green some time at 2b.  The other option would be to start giving Featherston more time at 2b because of his defense and hope his bat picks up a bit.

Any way you slice it, it's time to start trying something new.

Bring up Jett Bandy and DH Iannetta for now. Left field is a black hole that needs to be filled by a power bat. Unfortunately there are none of those in the minors and other teams are not trading power bats, unless yhe Angels would want Ryan Braun and his baggage. This lineup is boring, slow, lacks power and OBP enough to be successful. Time for JD to show some ability to obtain offense.

I'd much rather have Adam Lind. His production is practically the same as Braun's and he's not owed $96 million. We can't afford any more of these mega contracts.
