Can these type of posts get any worse?

Nope. I'm sure Arte couldn't care less about winning a championship. /sarcasm

These type of posts are from people who need to place blame. They ignore the fact that Arte has more money than he and most generations of his family will ever be able to spend. They ignore that most great business men are competitive. They ignore that he is a baseball fan himself. If you want to blame Arte blame him for trying to hard or spending too much money on players that aren't producing. To call him complacent is pretty stupid, and that's being kind.

Arte's worth a billion dollars and the team is worth five times what he paid for it in CASH eleven years ago.

"No sense of urgency" starts at the top and filters down.

Wait, so you are saying an owner that spent over $350 million on two players doesn't have a sense of urgency to win a championship? Question his ability to accurately predict a future player's success if you'd like, but I'm pretty sure he has spent such a sh*t ton of money to win a championship ASAP. It hasn't worked, but I certainly feel he has an urgent desire to win a World Series.

Have you ever bought a used car and it went to shit and you were out a few bucks? That's basically the same impact this has on Arte. It only affects his ego and our viewing pleasure.

Old argument, not valid....We haven't spent a lot of money on free agents since Hamilton...there is a reason...the luxury tax seems to matter to Arte.

So here's the thing. Even the Angels must have realized they were poor value contracts that would end up looking bad in a few years. In both cases, but especially Pujols, the performance was expected in the first half of the contract. In other words these guys should be peaking now relative to their contracts.

But the problem is that both fell through the roof and have come nowhere near performing even to the most pessimistic expectations. What is concerning, aside from the simple reality of being saddled with two terrible contracts (which even to Arte are fat worse than used car lemon), is that the Angels didn't scout this. I mean, didn't they think twice when both were let go so easily by their respective teams?

We can only hope the Angels learned their lesson.

Yeah, Arte Moreno is the WORST. He clearly doesn't care about the fans or the team- doing terrible things like investing in high end free agents, signing our young talent to longer deals so they stay with the franchise and trying to upgrade the stadium.

I wish we had a great owner like Rockies' Dick Monfort who tells his fans, "you don't deserve a franchise." and "if you don't like it, don't come to games."

Or someone like the late owner of the Mariners who never once watched a game in person and never even stepped foot in Safeco.

You can bet that Arte is pissed about all this. You have to believe that Arte was counting on winning big this post season to help gain more leverage with his land negotiations.

When you have home advantage and your starting lineups salary adds up to $87 Million vs your opponents $43 Million starting lineup it has to hurt not to win.

Hitting .141 in the post season is like kicking Arte in the nuts.
