Why Ibanez is still playing is beyond me. It isn't even that he was signed to a big contract and the Angels need to save face.

 

Anyhow, Raul is currently #235 out of 238 players with 150+ PA in wRC+. The only three players worse than him are all young players struggling to break through - Brad Miller, Eric Sogard, and Jedd Gyorko.

What I don't understand is how he can sit there on the bench and has to know he is done and yet will watch as better, younger players have to go back to the minors because he just won't let it go. At this point I don't blame Dipoto or Scioscia, it is all on Raul.

I thought it was Raul Dave Parker Ibanez...a formerly great player well past his shelf-life that the Angels still felt the need to acquire.

If Raul initiates retirement he doesn't get paid the remainder of his contract, it's Jerry's job to release him. The fact that hasn't happened suggests Moreno is intervening here.

I know the dude's coming back down to Earth in June, but Bobby Abreu had a .913 OPS in May. At least the Mets got one good month from a formerly great left handed bat. That's one more than we'll get.
