Cowgill's OBP is only 93 points lower than Shuck's OPS.  Could we perhaps maybe pretty please have the right guy leading off on a daily basis?

The BBs are pretty decent (60 over a full season as a full time player). Ks in today's game aren't quite so bad, although that factors out to 200 in a full season as a full time player, not ideal in anyway.

Yeah, you're right about the walks. Not too bad.

 

I want to see where that OPS is at the end of May before I jump on the Cowgill bandwagon. Right now he's playing far above his career averages.

 

I do like his intensity and obvious desire to play the game. That's always a plus in my book.

It's not about him maintaining a 1.015 OPS. It's about what he is doing right now and who is the better option. Shuck is not some vet that is off to a slow start. Sosh constantly stuck with his favorites in years past to "get them going" and it cost us many games in April and May. It's about time he change that strategy don't you think?

Same thing can be said for Ian Stewart, but I'll take some extra base pop over 0-5's from guys like Shuck.
