The Angels opened the season hopeful of having Ryan Madson as their closer in the early part of 2013. On Monday, with his recovery from Tommy John surgery continually stalled, they released the 32-year-old right-hander. View the full article

Both of them have apologized for using bad judgement during spring training of 2012. Now are we supposed to figure it was last season they were juiced or have they been juiced in 2012 and 2013? What period of time do these records cover?

By David Saltzer AngelsWin.com Senior Writer Baseball is the national pastime because it is a microcosm of life in America. In all ways, baseball represents what is best and worst about our country. Whether it be Jackie Robinson integrating the game as a prelude to the Civil Rights movement, or Ted Williams going off to serve in two wars for the military, baseball has been there to show the world what the American values are. That has never been more true than now with the ongoing PED scandal. In particular, it has never been more true than with one player in particular, A-Rod. While he was not the only player caught up in the Biogenesis scandal, he stands apart for …

Went to my first game this year on Saturday night. My wife got a very large bbq hot dog outside at maybe the Clyde Wright bbq for $7.50. It was basically two hot dogs, it was so big. A 24 oz light beer was $9.00. So, $4.50 for a 12 oz light beer. If you go to a bar and order a 12 oz beer, aren't you basically going to pay around $4.50? The best was a soft serve waffle cone - it was $5.50. The thing was pretty damn big, and pretty damn good. For stadium food, I thought the prices were good. Your mileage will vary, of course.

By Robert Cunningham, AngelsWin.com Contributor - As saber metrics have become more prominent throughout Major League Baseball, the term “replacement level playerâ€ has become a part of the baseball vernacular. The term applies to a generic “averageâ€ player that most teams could call up or trade for at any time to provide a neutral value in comparison to other players. Wins Above Replacement, otherwise known as WAR, is a fairly comprehensive value that tries to value players above or below this generic, average player. The generic player typically has a value of zero WAR that is used as the baseline (however this isn't usually the case in reality). FanGrap…

This season blows. This organizations seems like a mess and we are stuck with a couple awful contracts. I believe Dipoto will give us hope in the offseason, but until then let's ruin some seasons. Lets keep the Rangers and Yankees out of the playoffs. That's something I could be happy about

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - AUG. 4, 2002 GAME 110 - YANKEES AT ANGELS ANAHEIM -- The New York Yankees lead the majors in home runs, but sometimes location is even more important than how far the ball is hit. That was the case Sunday afternoon, when it was a 90-foot squibber that was the difference against the Angels in the Yankees' 12-inning, 7-5 victory before a sellout crowd of 43,455 at Edison Field. With the score tied at 5 in the top of the 12th inning, Alfonso Soriano came to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs and hit one off the end of the bat against Angels reliever Scot Shields, the ball bouncing slowly towards second baseman Ad…

Vote! Besides JB Shuck's and Peter Bourjos' amazing catches this year, here's a look at catches that made their way onto our Top-50 Greatest Moments in Angels Baseball feature. Downing and Lynn crash and catch There have been many outstanding catches made over the years in Major League baseball. Willie Mays’ over-the-shoulder catch in the 1954 World Series. Ozzie Smith’s barehanded diving stop. Jim Edmonds’ outstretched layout in Kansas City. Each among the best. Another great catch in Angels history came down the stretch of the 1982 American League West pennant chase. Four days earlier, the Angels title hopes were looking grim, as a three-game losing…

The Angels' lineup Sunday included nine players who weren't with the team at the beginning of the season, with three who were in the minor leagues 18 days ago. Nine players in uniform for the Angels on Sunday weren't with the team opening day. Five of them weren't even with the team when it began its last trip. View the full article

Terrible plate discipline, pulls the ball way too much, below average ML defense at 1B and nothing spectacular in the OF, major inconsistencies resulting in month long slumps that really hinders our lineups production when he's K'ing in RISP situations. Why is this guy ''untouchable'' again? Ship him in a package with Aybar or Kendrick and acquire some god damn pitching for the love of god.

There's seriously got to be a club policy that if you work for AM830, you MUST make excuses for Mike Scioscia. Once Scioscia gets fired you'll see how most of these Angels radio guys are just pushing what they're told to push.

Mark Trumbo and Mike Trout homer for Angels, but Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion hit two-out singles in ninth to lift the Blue Jays. Fielding helps undermine Angels. If you had to choose a two-inning sample that is emblematic of the way things have gone for the Angels this season, the last two innings of Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays would be a good choice. Off to a very rough start. 3-16, all singles. Apparently they see him as a 2B because they signed former Indians 3B Andy Marte and assigned him to SLC. It'll be interesting to see what they do when Lucho comes back.
