An exchange going to break on MLB's Trade Deadline special. Tom Verducci: One quick note on the market here. Five of the top 10 payrolls in baseball are sellers right now, too. And it's a really weird market. Brian Kenny: It is. It's the price that you pay. Look, you invest and you're like "Oh well, we'll worry about those years later?" Well for a lot of clubs, this is now. This is when you have to worry about it. Now is when you see the... yeah. Later has arrived. Here it is. It is later.

First of all, the best fit, the Cardinals, evidently won't include Wacha or Martinez, one of whom I'd imagine Dipoto would insist upon. Secondly, the Angels might be wanting Green for 3B where his defense might play better than at 2B. Given Cowart's stalled development, and Jimenez's questionable ability to be a major league starter, the Angels have a gap at 3B for at least another year. That said, I'd estimate a Kendrick trade at about 50-50, either now or in the offseason. He's just one of the most moveable parts for the Angels and, with Green, Lindsey, and Yarbrough they have three solid second base prospects, all within a year or so of being ready (Yarbrough m…

In recent days, the Blue Jays have expressed geniune interest in Angels second baseman Howie Kendrick, according to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet. While the Blue Jays aren't buyers in the traditional sense, they are looking at ways of addressing needs for 2013 and beyond. Kendrick, 30, will earn the prorated portion of $8.75MM in 2013, $9.35MM in 2014, and $9.5MM in 2015 before hitting free agency. This season, Kendrick is hitting .301/.344/.446 with eleven homers and is looking stronger than he did in 2012. The Angels have also discussed Kendrick with the Royals as Kansas City combs the market for a second baseman. According to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Ang…

Anybody think there is a "Mapel" in the Angels Clubhouse? And do you think that Mike Scioscia would react like the great George Knox does here?

Neither of these guys are exactly young and does it really matter if Green's natural position is 2b not 3b? Why have they not replaced Strange and one of Nelson/ Field yet?

Angels manager Mike Scioscia indicated after Tuesday's loss to the Rangers that he could use a closer-by-committee moving forward. Frieri blew his second straight save Tuesday and has allowed eight runs on nine hits and four walks over his last four appearances. Sensing that his confidence "might be a little nicked right now," Scioscia said he'll try to play the matchups a bit more in the ninth inning for now. Dane De La Rosa is probably the best pickup for fantasy purposes. http://www.rotoworld.com/

Real postgame comments from the Fat Man. On the bullpen: "They couldn't close out some innings to keep enough of a margin." On the Rangers: "Give the Rangers some credit." On CJ: "I thought CJ made some good pitches but just missed." On his ejection: "It was quick, I never got an explanation." On the Callaspo trade: "It's a move to try and get us more athletic. Alberto was a great player for us." "He used the whole field, he battled."

By Robert Cunningham, AngelsWin.com Staff Writer - As the trade deadline approaches, teams come to terms with where they are in the standings and have to choose whether they are sellers, buyers, or neutral in the trade market. The Angels are still below .500 in team winning percentage and, soon, Jerry Dipoto and the front office have to make the tough decision to either, stand pat, sell, or buy. To be fair it seems that the Angels are more likely to stand relatively pat in this trade market. It feels like the odds of standing pat-buying-selling stands around 55-5-40 as we enter July. These next two weeks will obviously determine the course of our involvement in the …

...to pick up some spare parts and try to put something resembling a baseball team together. Callaspo is gone. Kendrick, Aybar, Iannetta, Frieri, and some others could go and I wouldn't lose a minute of sleep.

Was just a culmination of playing his entire big league career under Scioscia. Bunting is a big part of this team and as long as Scioscia is manager, bunting whether the situation is right, wrong, or WTF?!!?! full retard like tonight should come as no surprise.

Trade Kendrick, Iannetta and the rest of the spare parts for Ian Kennedy and Phil Hughes. Rebuild the rotation, and start over next year.

We'd have him most likely up here for a cup of coffee playing 3B, we'd be able to trade Kendrick and still have 3 solid replacements in Green, Lindsey and Yarby. Our 2014 lineup would already be in tact.

that we would be playing the Rangers a couple of days before August and Shuck, Cowgill, and Field would be in the lineup and Stange and Gutierrez would be coming out of the pen in a close game I would have told you to meet me at the Carl's Jr by the stadium, then I would have chugged down a DP with the same cup I have been getting refills with for the past three years and then I would have thrown down with you and beat you to a pulp.

Angels bullpen squanders a four-run, eighth-inning lead on a night in which third baseman Alberto Callaspo is traded to the Oakland Athletics for former USC star Grant Green. ARLINGTON, Texas — It was an extremely eventful Tuesday evening for the Angels, who pounded out 16 hits but lost their fifth consecutive game, blowing a four-run, eighth-inning lead in a 14-11, 10-inning loss to the Texas Rangers at the Ballpark in Arlington.
