Nice preview of what he'll bring to the table for us next year when Dipoto signs him during the winter to bolster our rotation as a solid #4 that ''eats innings'' and ''shows grit and reliability''.

The Angels dropped three games to the American League West-rival Rangers in Texas this week, all on walk-off homers, but the silver lining was Josh Hamilton quietly coming to life at the plate. View the full article

For young guys like Trout to be in such a toxic, lifeless, loser environment just sucks. The team should at least be playing hard to keep their state of mind right heading into next year, to be ready to compete. Scioscia could care less and his lack of fire shows in his team. Him getting tossed last night was negated by the horse shit he spewed out of his mouth after the game

Ted Lilly was designated for assignment/ released today by the Dodgers........ Just read in this week's LA Times that Lilly was going to move to the pen as a long relief guy.........I guess that didn't go over well or last long. Lilly's been hurt and has some endurance issues coming back so pen duty as a pre-set up guy might make sense but not when he pulls a Kazmir type attitude and doesn't want to learn new pitching tricks/ role. Lilly with the Cubs and then with the Dogs had decent stats, hard thrower, seemed to be among the top guys in K's when healthy and pitched a full season. Dogs owe him $5 million........some team can pick Lilly up for the minor l…

As the train wreck continues to burn for another couple of months and knowing that, although there isn't a significant amount of flexibility going into next spring, there could be a few unexpected positives that occur before the 2014 season begins, I think that it's reasonable to expect a few things. 1) No publication, no baseball analyst, no website, no one at all will pick the Angels to win the AL West or finish second and few will consider them a third-place team when pre-season picks come out in February. And with Houston seemingly beginning to execute a plan expect the Angels to be slotted for fifth by more than a few people. Thank 2012 and 2013 for that. Expectatio…

Except for Pujols, Hamilton, and Blanton (nobody would claim them) is there any angel that if a team claimed you would want to just hand over? I suspect our whole team might be put on waivers (most teams do as a strategy to sneak players through). Any player you would be happy with giving the Alex Rios treatment to? I think Aybar is a possibility. If we are rebuilding while being stuck with Pujols/Hamilton/Blanton/ and 20 mil for VWells lets just get rid of that contact and move on.

No real significant talent in the minors close to being big league ready, huge contracts to underperforming veterans, Weaver and Wilson aging....it could be years before we truly contend again. Going to have to draft well. I don't see us making the playoffs with the current core (Aybar, Howie, Frieri, Iannetta, etc.). I think you sell those guys off, and try to regroup for 2016 and beyond with cost controlled prospects. The fact that I think they should do this means Arte will probably sign Cano and every other big name free agent the next 3 years though. I've had enough "winning the offseason" for a lifetime. I think it's time to make smarter financial investments in…

I live in NJ right now and I get a lot of Philly talk on the radio. Ruben Amare was on, and was pretty much taking non stop criticism from the radio host and he was responding to everything. It was awesome. I don't think he's a good GM at all, but at least he is willing to respond to the criticism, and be honest about what is going on in the org. Now look at the Angels. Jerry Dipoto and Scioscia pretty much give the middle finger to angel fans. They never respond to criticism and the media never challenges them. Really is pathetic.

The negative attention directed at him in the last couple days has got me wondering, as someone who doesn't follow the minors as close as some others, about why he's seemingly been treated as a throwaway player over the course of his career. Watching him play, he's pretty quick and seems to be a solid defender. And from a statistical standpoint, it looks like he's shown promise in the minors, posting a .285/.360/.464 line in AA in '10, and then a beastly .354/.430/.554 line in AAA in '11. Oakland gave up on him pretty quickly last year after only 104 PAs and a .269/.336/.317 line, and after naming him their starting CF this year, the Mets gave up on him after …

Josh Hamilton hits his first homer against his former team, but the Angels lose third game in a row to Texas by home run. Adrian Beltre led off the bottom of the ninth for Texas with a home run to beat the Los Angeles Angels 2-1 on Wednesday night, completing a three-game series sweep in which the Rangers won each on game-ending homers. This really is absolutely demoralizing to watch. I knew it was coming, but when Beltre launched that ball to the moon I was still left sitting there silently starring at the TV. I'm in absolute disbelief the way this is going down. Is this how Boston felt in 2011? Is this worse? Who knows..

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - JULY 31, 2002 GAME 106 - RED SOX AT ANGELS ANAHEIM -- Trying to hit Boston Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield's knuckleball, the Angels hitters looked like they were trying to hit a butterfly with a pencil. And coming one night after trying -- and failing -- to hit the hard-throwing Pedro Martinez could not have helped their cause, either. In fact, when Scott Spiezio doubled with one out in the fifth inning Tuesday, it marked the first time the Angels had moved a baserunner as far as second base in 14 innings, going back to the series opener on Monday. The Angels managed a run on Troy Glaus' eighth-inning home run, but it…

The Angels were able to pull off a couple of relatively minor deals prior to the non-waiver Trade Deadline, flipping Scott Downs to the Braves for Minor League reliever Cory Rasmus and sending Alberto Callaspo to the Athletics for Minor League infielder Grant Green. View the full article

Dodgers are playing well so Arte doesn't need to worry about them picking him up.
