One must give Houston a lot of credit for signing Veras, putting him in a role he had never had before, and flipping him for value. The Astros have a loaded farm system. They are going to be a perennial series threat for the division every year starting in 2015 or 2016. The AL West is now one of the power house divisions in baseball. Not good news for us.

I enjoy Simers -- he's funny, he's not afraid to ask anyone anything, and he has a proven record of being right most of the time. Seems his future is in quesiton. "Members of the LA Times sports department have been gossiping among themselves about the sarcastic columnist's status all month. The speculation moved onto the web over the weekend with a post at sports blogger Larry Brown's site saying that Simers' bosses took exception to a video he participated in for Mandalay Sports Media. In the video, Simers officiates a free-throw competition between his daughter Kelzer and ex-Laker Dwight Howard," Couple of stories: Larry Brown's site LA Observed

I've made a few wallpapers for the site earlier this year. I got a new computer and got my software back, so I will be making a few more. Which player would you guys like to see next? If you have any ideas, throw some at me. My mind is pretty blank at the moment. Also, I'll take requests if you'd like a custom signature, avatar, or anything.

With two outs and the bases loaded, and the Dodgers trailing by one run in the bottom of the 7th, he swings badly at the first two pitches, sliders down and away (Hamilton, anyone?), then drills a 2-run single to put the Dogs ahead. Crowd goes crazy, screaming "M..V..Puig!" Puig is hitting .500 with RISP this year.

Mike DiGiovanna @MikeDiGiovanna 11m #Angels DH Albert Pujols has returned to SoCal to be evaluated. Re-injured L foot Fri night. Doesn't look good. Out for a while. Mike DiGiovanna @MikeDiGiovanna 1m My take on Pujols from covering Scioscia for many years. By way #Angels MGR spoke today, Albert appears headed for DL. I hope this is the case. Season is lost, time to let him get surgery or do whatever to help get this thing fixed for next year.

Sure, the game is still going on, but I feel rather safe in getting a start on this thread early. Makes it easy to get into the flow, as Mike would say. "We saw some things going on that we are gonna carry forward. A couple of guys are startin' to get where they need to be, and we'll go forward from here. We're letting the flow take us to where it is we need to be. As we go deeper into this new season some things will play out, and we can gage just what we have. A couple of guys are pressin' a bit, but nobody wants to win more than those 25 guys in uniform for us. Hammy is startin' to come around, Eps has been workin' overtime trying to get him goin' and we are starti…

Well, that's it. Not that I thought we were going to make a run, but at least I stayed on this far looking for a turnaround. As a 35 year fan, 17 year season ticket holder ( I gave them up this year. Enough's enough.) I just can't take it anymore. Understand this, I loves my Angels. And I'm not one of those fair-weather friends who shouts "You suck" every time they falter, but jeez, how much can a fan take? I have stayed away from Yankee, Red Sox, and Dodger games at the Big A, because, well, their fans DO suck. Just no fun to attend games where intimidation is the soup d'jour, homeboys. The last two series (Twins, A's) capped my year. I'll watch, but not for long. Wher…

Get the foot surgery and stay off your feet til spring training. This year is done anyway. Maybe we could get .850+ OPS Pujols back.

If trading Mike Trout could bring you three upgrades in the lineup and a starter, would you do it? The Dallas Cowboys traded their one marquee player and it won them three Super Bowls, basically. Trade partner: A team like the Mets, desperate for a superstar to escape the Yankees' shadow, or the Phillies or even Orioles? I love Trout. He's only played a year and a half and he's already my all-time favorite Angel. But would you rather be the Twins that won two World Series in the late 80s/early 90s, or the Joe Mauer Twins, selling lots of merchandise of that one player but not winning anything? Just starting the conversation, since this season isn't going a…
