Puig again

Recommended Posts

With two outs and the bases loaded, and the Dodgers trailing by one run in the bottom of the 7th, he swings badly at the first two pitches, sliders down and away (Hamilton, anyone?), then drills a 2-run single to put the Dogs ahead.

Crowd goes crazy, screaming "M..V..Puig!"

Puig is hitting .500 with RISP this year.

It's just nuts how he's hitting.  Will be interesting to see if he continues it all season, because there is a big difference between 22 games and 162 games.  And if he does, Doggie fans will be packing the stadium next year to see if he is the real deal.

the pitch he hit was actually in a similar spot as the other two and he reached way off the plate to get it.  At some point I would imagine they will expand the zone even more but the guy has show the ability to hit the bad ball really well.  Can't imagine a 3% walk rate will allow him to continue what he's doing.

That last at bat he swung at 3 balls well out of the strike zone.

He's not going to continue what he is doing and will not do well if he doesn't develop better patience.

Also, everything he has hit finds a hole.  He's vladesque in that he gets the bat on the ball, but Vlad could hit that pitch for a hr.

Puig seems legit, but when you swing that much, they are going to find some holes in his swing.

It's just like a bunch of other guys.

Sliders low/away and bust them in and see how they respond.
