I only ask because if you look at a lot of lineups around the league especially for about half the teams in the majors, they have several players hitting below .250 and some even below .200 and these players are regular starters.

Outfielder, who hits a home run against Texas, is part of the discussion for this season's American League award, along with Detroit's Miguel Cabrera and Baltimore's Chris Davis. The American League most valuable player debate is heating up, with Baltimore's Chris Davis muscling his way into the conversation with Angels center fielder Mike Trout and Detroit slugger Miguel Cabrera. third verse same as the first actually, the last four years the pen has ben toward the bottom of the league. I can handle bad teams that don't perform as well as they should on offense or even lack talent on the starting pitching end. Bad bullpens steal wins from late in the game and take away potential rallying points that can have positive effects on morale. There has been ample opportunity to improve this glaring weak point yet they keep applying the 'good enough' mentality in hopes that it holds up. It's not working. If they cart out the same crew next year with late inning opportunities given to Jepsen, Kohn, and Frieri as well as trying to piece together a…

Let's be honest here. I don't expect him to hit .333/.381/.537 all year and to continue his 9 WAR pace - maybe more like .290+/.800 and 5 WAR. But he is what I thought he could be in a best-case scenario: better than Aybar and Kendrick, and much cheaper. Now I suppose that you could say that given that Pena and Hellweg are likely to be solid bullpen arms or maybe decent starters, the Angels had to part with at least one significant prospect to get Zack Greinke. But here we are: with weak starting pitching, no Greinke, and watching Segura turn into one of the best middle infielders in the game. Why does this keep happening? It seems like an inordinate number of mov…

Lineup selection, horrible relief pitching, MOTO can't hit their way out of a paper bag, horrible defense, opposing players running wild on the basepaths, and on and on... It's a spectacle.

Real postgame comments from the Fat Man: "I thought with runners in scoring position, we squared some balls up and didn't have much to show for it." "The guys had great at bats and hit the ball hard that's all you can do."

The Angels got back-to-back homers from Kole Calhoun and Mike Trout in the first inning but couldn't sustain the momentum in Tuesday night's 8-3 loss to the Rangers, their six straight setback against the American League West rivals. View the full article

With the acquisition of Ted Lilly, there is talk that the Giants are considering a six man rotation to save arms. With Vargas nearing a return, should the Angels consider this by keeping Jerome in the rotation?

Anyone seen a good scouting report on Jose Rondon, hopefully a non-biased one? No offense to Scotty, Chuck, Dave etc, but I'd like to hear what someone other than an Angels fan has to say!

...No one would be crying right now, and baseball would be a more exciting sport. Bonds, Sosa, McGwire saved baseball from going down the drain with the excitement they created. We all know you people that are crying enjoyed watching those guys play. Why not make them legal?

And MLB is still doing little but lip service to stop it. This newest "scandal" was only uncovered because a disgruntled investor decided to take Tony Bosch down, and stole the documents that MLB used to begin an investigation. It wasn't from a crack-down and better testing...it was from a 3rd source. All of the fans who might have thought this game was being finally played clean, at least for the most part, were duped again. Everything Jose said has turned out to be true, and then some.

First of all, the sky isn't falling. Its three games into the season. I know that Hamilton and Pujols are 2-23, but let's give this some time. That said, the Angels are going to Texas for a three game series. Chances are they leave Arlington 2-4, even 1-5. If either happens, don't panic! My preseason prediction (not sure if I voiced it here) is that they'd be around .500 in April (13-14?), start warming up in May and be hot in June and hopefully strong for the rest of the year. But remember that this is a relatively new team - lots of new faces and it might take a bit to see how it all fits together. But I think it will. The most encouraging thing so far is ho…
