It Might Get Worse Before It Gets Better

Recommended Posts

No way the Reds are the third best team in baseball.  Their run differential last year was only +81 and they are hardly improved.

Still, it's not a bad sign at all for the Angels to lose two one run games on the road to a very good team.

I'm open to any differing opinion. But who would you put in front of them? Detroit maybe.

For better or worse the first two games are likely to be very high scoring. Vargas and Hanson are probably going to get lit up in Texas, but the Angels should keep pace. As for Darvish vs. Weaver...that should be a pitching duel. Darvish looks unreal this year.

Pretty sure even Johan Santana can shutout the Astros this year. With a screwed up arm.

I don't think that had much to do with it.  I think it's the fact that we ended up not having anywhere near as much talent as we initially thought.

It's the casual mindset that lies behind it. Starts with the manager who can't wait to tip his cap to the opposing team and turn the page on another loss.

Yep!

Good starting pitching. Good bullpen. Good lineup. Good defense.

Will easily win the NL Central.

Yep!

Only thing they are missing is a creative manager who isn't stuck in his patterns.

There is a reason SF didn't renew him after losing in the WS in 02.

How many managers get released after taking a team to game 7 ???

Lucky for us that they had Dumbsty making the pitching moves in 02, or we probably wouldn't have a ring in Anaheim yet.

He went on to lead a stacked Cubs team to "close" and he will again lead this good Reds team to "close".

The comparisons between Baker and Scioscia are astounding in likeness.

Lefty-Righty matchups, even when the numbers say differently.... allegiance to vets with better young players available, leaving pitchers in too long, or pulling them when cruising...poor bullpen management..

The list goes on and on.

These two managers came up through the ranks joined at the hip, and are twins in their baseball mentality.
