seriously, who has realistically given up on the season? Are you now looking to 2014 and hoping for off season changes or are you holding out like me? If the Dodgers can do it - why can't we? Weren't they worse off than us weeks back? Cheryl

of this team no longer becoming a serious contender. 2010, the year was over with Kendrys going down. Reagins and company fail in getting Beltre even though it was a position of need and he had a great year with the Red Sox. Beltre goes on to be a high .800-.900 OPS player with the Rangers. Reagins makes a panic move and trades for Vernon Wells. Napoli ends up in Texas and goes out and leads them to the World Series. If Reagins signs Beltre, we don't trade Napoli. Pretty good chance we make the playoffs. 2012, Reagins sticks around and doesn't make any drastic changes cause they had a good year previous. So, the team doesn't sign Pujols, then Trout takes it from …

This has probably been discussed in one of the scioscia threads, but I didn't read them all. Sue me. But I ask because people here say it's not scioscias fault the team is doing so poorly, therefore he shouldn't be fired. If that's the case, why do teams fire managers?

Pittsburgh loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the 10th but failed to score. They remain tied with Miami, 4-4. edit: Okay, Yahoo Game Channel is all messed up. Apparently the Pirates won the game 5-4 in the 10th. How they did it, I don't know.

Am I allowed now? Let's take a look. Obviously all transactions aren't equal in importance, but let's just take a look at Dipoto's and see how they look in total. Key: A: Great - the deal worked out wonderfully (so far) with the Angels getting tremendous value for money/trade B: Good - a solid deal, worked out well for the Angels C: OK - could take it or leave it, not bad but not good either D: Bad - worked out poorly (so far) for the Angels F: Terrible - an outright disaster TRADES Chatwood for Iannetta: D+ Iannetta's been OK, although poor defensively, and Chatwood has, surprise surprise, finally found himself, with a 3.15 ERA in 15 starts for the Ro…

I would prefer to sign Mike Trout to a long, long contract and never let him go anywhere. But, I also wonder what kind of massive trade package he could command in return. What kind of players do you think we could in return for Mike Trout if he were traded. (Mind you, I'm one of those fans that will flat out stop watching this team if he's traded - just curious) Add: If you're not going to contribute to this post, then please don't post at all.

It honestly feels like every single or walk is a double. Ianneta and Conger are both fine as a backup catcher, but theres not much in terms of FA catchers. Its not like a starting catcher can be traded for either. Just looking at FA, McCann is head and shoulders above everyone else and will get paid a ton. After him, there is AJ (dont want that a hole on the team) Carlos Ruiz ( may stay in Philly, but is good defensively) Saltalamachia Kurt Suzuki (my favorite option, always has been very solid defensively and is just 30) Our current play at catcher is embarassing and no doubt Sosh is fuming.

Mike Trout is once again considered the best player in baseball by the all-encompassing Wins Above Replacement sabermetric statistic. It means -- in a big-picture sort of way -- that we may be witnessing the embryonic stages of one of the greatest players in history, while on pace to be the second since 1965 to rack up consecutive 10-plus WAR seasons. By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - AUG. 8, 2002 GAME 114 - ANGELS AT WHITE SOX CHICAGO – Angels starting pitcher Aaron Sele pitched a serviceable seven innings, but the Angels offense couldn’t do much against Chicago White Sox starter Jim Parque and four relievers in the White Sox’s 3-2 win before 18,165 at Comiskey Park. Sele gave up three runs and seven hits in seven innings, but got tagged with the loss, falling to 8-8. Troy Glaus’ RBI single in the first inning and Benji Gil’s solo homer in the second put the Angels up 2-0, but they didn’t score again. They were 1 for 4 with runners in scoring position in the game. Frank Thomas’ two…

Who finishes with a higher ERA? Right now Hanson has surged ahead of Blanton. Hanson: 5.59 Blanton: 5.52 Going to be a photo finish. I think Blanton is destined to win this one though.

Miracle on miracle, he didn't use any of his code phrases this time (square up the ball, scuffling, ball coming out of hand, tipping cap, turn the page, etc.). How freaking refreshing!

Study this grid: http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings/grid Through today, the Angels are 26-19 vs AL East and AL Central teams, but 18-33 vs AL West. vs TEX, 2-10 vs OAK, 4-9 vs SEA, 6-7 vs HOU, 6-7 This suggests a complete coaching failure in my opinion. Do these idiots still play Xbox and PS3 before games, or do they actually review scouting reports and video for their AL West opponents?

Seattle has stormed back from a 7-2 deficit to lead Toronto 9-7 in the 5th inning. Bartolo Colon got roughed up in one of his few bad starts this year. 2.2 IP, 7 hits, 5 ER, 3 BB, 2 K. Oakland lost to Cincinnati, 6-5.

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - AUG. 7, 2002 GAME 113 - ANGELS AT WHITE SOX CHICAGO – Royce Clayton’s single with one out in the bottom of the ninth off Angels reliever Brendan Donnelly drove home Carlos Lee and lifted the Chicago White Sox to a 7-6 comeback victory before 14,253 at Comiskey Park. Thanks to home runs by David Eckstein and Troy Glaus and two hits and two RBIs from Garret Anderson, the Angels took a 6-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth. But Angels starter Kevin Appier gave up two in the bottom of the sixth, allowing the White Sox to get close, and the bullpen – Ben Weber, Scott Schoeneweis and Donnelly – couldn’t hold the l…

Lol, what a joke. Hanson gives up four SBs in the first inning, lazily fielded a bunt that went for a hit and two wild pitches.
