GAME 114 - ANGELS AT WHITE SOX

CHICAGO – Angels starting pitcher Aaron Sele pitched a serviceable seven innings, but the Angels offense couldn’t do much against Chicago White Sox starter Jim Parque and four relievers in the White Sox’s 3-2 win before 18,165 at Comiskey Park.

Sele gave up three runs and seven hits in seven innings, but got tagged with the loss, falling to 8-8.

Troy Glaus’ RBI single in the first inning and Benji Gil’s solo homer in the second put the Angels up 2-0, but they didn’t score again. They were 1 for 4 with runners in scoring position in the game.

Frank Thomas’ two-run homer in the bottom of the second got the White Sox even, and Carlos Lee’s solo homer in the fifth put the White Sox up for good.

The loss knocked the Angels 3 ½ games behind Seattle in the A.L. West, and their lead in the wild-card race was reduced to a half-game over Boston.
