Some would say 1 WAR is worth $6 million +. If Trout were to go become a free agent after this year and only wanted to sign a 1 year deal the market would pay him north of $50 million.

Building a solid farm system will be critical to being competitive throughout Trout's tenure with his current deal. Absolutely critical. We also need inexpensive talent to offside the Pujols deal.

you said trout isn't worth 50 million a year. I said, if a team is trying to buy wins, he is worth that much. That's how much baseball value he provides in to day's market.

obviously the angels got a huge discount on his extension. Who knows if he will be as generous when it comes time for the next one

The odds trout is still putting up a 10 WAR 8 years from now probably is hopeful but doubtful. But even if he is, he would be roughly what he is today. If he hit FA today, he most likely doesnt get 50 AAV

Again, not trying to argue. But regardless of how great he is, an owner (unless they are really stupid) isnt going to knowingly spend more money on an investment than theyre going to make off one.
