Major trade during the season? I give that less than 2% chance of happening (trading veterans in the last year of their contract is not a major trade, especially since we don't have any veterans that will fetch substantial prospect hauls).

With another year left on his contract after this season, I don't think he is going anywhere.

Blanton will finish the season out with the Angels.  If they're really out of it, no sense in burning through another pitcher or wasting the bullpen.  There's one thing we know Blanton is good for, eating......innings.  He's good for 5-6 innings every 5th day.  But under no circumstance do I see him returning to the Angels rotation next season. 

 

They'll either demote him to long relief or just cut him loose.

If season ended today we would pick 12. It is essential for this team to suck enough to land a top 10 pick. We can't afford to waste the pick and slot money on another Misadventure in free agency.

The future of this franchise may depend on Blanton sticking in the rotation!
