Gameday Thread (6/23/23): Angels @ Rockies

The Rockies have never won a series against the Angels. Ever. We shall see if this streak ends.

Too many missed opportunities. Big costly mistakes by Velazquez on the bases and in the field. Even on a night he actually gets a hit.

The back to back homers by the usual suspects couldn't compensate for an imploding bullpen.

The Rockies broadcasters were raving over Ohtani and made an interesting observation. Offer him a 3 year deal at $300 million. He's a free agent again at 31 and the team gets him for his peak years without worrying about long term degradation. The point they were making is that whoever signs him has to be creative and think outside the box. But we don't know what Ohtani's objectives are. Regardless, it will take great salesmanship and diplomacy besides money. And the way things are with the Angels, it's hard to see him remaining on a team that is still questionable in so many areas. 

Their broadcasters also said it would be good for the sport to see the Angels in the post season. And followed that up with mentioning that they have the longest gap since their last playoff appearance.

Man it really does feel like this team will never make the postseason again. 
 

I might need to stop watching for a few weeks. They really do take all the fun out of baseball… get a win streak going, get your hopes up… lose 5 of 6 and right back where they started.
