Angels select P Logan Britt from Abilene Christian 504th overall in the 17th round.

Welcome to the Halos!

He was announced as a pitcher, but he’s only made 1 appearance as pitcher in college according to baseball reference…

Faced 3 batters, gave up 1 hit, 2 walks, and 2 wild pitches.

And it looks like he’s primarily been a hitter. So are they converting him? Or a mistake?

He was drafted as an OF out of high school, too.  Gotta just be an error?

(Side note: he played on the same high school team as Bobby Witt, Jr.)

it’s weird because they announced him as a pitcher on the official MLB draft call.

So it’s not like they just entered it into the draft tracker wrong?

Angels select P Dalton Kendrick from the University of Memphis 534th overall in the 18th round.

Welcome to the Halos!

Big ol' dude.  6'5", 250 lb lefty.

Mediocre numbers in college.  Walks a bunch of guys, K's a good number, too:

EDIT: Mediocre numbers overall, though this season was definitely better.  Only allowed 5.6 H/9.

I don't see anyone in the 18 picks so far who should go for much over slot, if at all (Barrett Kent has the largest gap between pre-draft ranking and where he was taken, but from what I've been able to find about him, he doesn't really seem like a guy you'd break the bank on).  So either they're planning on drafting someone in the 20th round who'll require an overpay, or they're just being very conservative with their money this year.
