Lots of Mike Trout love as you would expect.  https://theathletic.com/888068/2019/03/26/the-2019-mlb-poll-whos-the-funniest-the-best-the-most-overrated-how-tense-are-labor-relations-and-whos-afraid-of-aaron-judge/

One thing that stood out to me:

Quote

8. Which manager (aside from your own) would you least want to play for?

Top result: Gabe Kapler, Phillies (18.3%)

Runners-up: Joe Maddon (16.1%), Buck Showalter (7.5%), Mike Scioscia (6.5%)

I will call that validation.

I wonder what the reasoning is? Not just sosh, but maddon, kapler, etc.

Personality? Decision making?

Youre still a young man. Its never too late to correct the past.

The things those 4 guys can do with a blowtorch, some sheet metal, and a small business being muscled by a mob run one will blow your mind.

For 5 seasons.

so it took 4 guys to do what Angus MacGyver could do on his own?

pass.

Kapler has a reputation for overdoing it on the Sabermetrics. His inconsistent lineups, numerous pitching changes, etc. I think PHI led the NL in defensive shifts last season. Maddon is similar.

My guess is because he is a stubborn out of touch dinosaur that has no idea how to manage modern baseball.

Meanwhile in the same poll where Maddon was second to Kapler as the manager they least wanted to play for those same MLB players voted for Maddon the guy they most wanted to play for..

Validation invalidated....

Players were obviously really split on Maddon.  Note: Scioscia didn't get any votes in the good category.
