Because they need to have talented players to replace them... we don’t have depth in the upper minors yet to replace most of these guys.

I would love that, but I think the cost will be too high.  I obviously don’t know for sure, but if you had him wouldn’t you want the world?  Maybe you can get him with the center piece being Barria if you don’t want to give up Marsh or Adell.

Padres aren't going to trade him, they plan on contending next year, if not this year, they are only 4.5 games back and 7-3 in their last 10.

Is it normal for teams to have so many high potential relievers come thru their system with nasty stuff that fizzle out after one really good year? Seems like it always happens to us since Frankie left:

arredando, jepsen, bedrosian, Walden off the top of my head. It’s like we can’t develop an all-star reliever the last 10 years
