Umpire has already been hit by a ball when Escobar's base hit got the ump. Damn, a lot of drama in Angels game this Spring. No-hitter one game, manager getting ejected the next game, and now an umpire getting hit with a baseball on a base hit. A lot of drama in Angels games, no doubt!

I assume that Maybin hitting 5th is to get him more at bats, vs hitting at the bottom of the order.

He seems to run out of gas in the fourth -- at worst he's the perfect long man.    We haven't had a guy who could shut teams down for multiple innings in a long time -- if he fills that need.  Yay us.

Exactly - doesn't seem to have the stamina to last as a starter, at least not yet, but the multi-inning capability is big.

Man, if Marte and Cron keep this up into the regular season, they're going to have a hard time bumping one for Valbuena.
