In an obvious attempt to mitigate NCAA penalties from an ongoing investigation, the University of Mississippi has self-imposed a one-year bowl ban on its football program. There have been allegations of wealthy alumni handing out large sums of cash to recruits, and it has not been lost on many people that Ole Miss suddenly began signing a caliber of athletes who wouldn't consider the school before. Speculation is that Coach Hugh Freeze won't survive this situation. The NCAA has uttered those four words that lead you to believe that a one-year bowl ban won't be nearly enough: Lack of institutional control.
