We're not this bad

Recommended Posts

Were not this bad, I completely agree.  The problem is, if we continue to play this bad, the hole will be too deep for us to crawl out of.  We cant keep starting 2-7ish each year and expect to play .600 ball the rest of the season.

This is the main issue. If we spend the rest of the season trying to overcome our first 2-3 weeks, it won't really matter if we were as bad as we showed.

people shouldn't fret over small sample sizes. the angels aren't this bad and the a's aren't this good.  i mean half the a's lineup have wrc+ of 200 or higher for crying out loud. that's the definition of small sample size. the first couple of weeks for the 2011 red sox were pretty abysmal but they turned out to be pretty good.

Didn't the 2011 Red Sox have a meltdown to end the season and miss the playoffs? Given that they're still recovering 2 seasons later, that's probably not the best comparison.... not if the goal is to inspire hope.

"You are what your record says you are."

- Bill Parcells

Right now, the Angels are inferior to both the Rangers and A's in the only real measurable we have: the scoreboard.  Last season the Angels finished third in the division due to the bullpen squandering leads, if only half of those had occurred the Angels would have won the division.  This season right away they are way back in the standings for the same reason.

To think that is going to turn around after the trend of the past couple seasons is noble and all, but it doesn't make much sense.  We have every reason to doubt whether the pen can get it turned around.  I hope they do, or this season is going to be lost.

Right now, with the exception of Miami and (maybe) San Diego, the Angels are inferior to every other team in baseball record-wise. They, in fact, may be worse than the record indicates. Right now I think there's a real possibility that Houston leaves Anaheim the same way Oakland did.

Nah it's easy to when compare the pitching. Lineups don't mean squat if the pitching is horrible.

Right, but our pitching whiile not steller was expected be able to hold its own. This pitching was a bit of an unkown but had the potential to be average collectively since there didn't appear to be any spots that were glaring weaknesses.   Even the pen didn't and don't have to skus this badly, but they do.  Just like last year, except down the stretch, the pen has a good game then next game loses a lead with a meltdown.

Fortunes can turn quickly in baseball. In 2002 we started 6-14, and that followed a 2-19 finish to the 2001 season. Do you remember the bleak atmosphere around this team? Well, after that dreadful start, we won 21 of the next 24 games.

The Angels won 99 games that year and the World Series.

Selective amnesia? Did you forget last year? 2012 Angels have A LOT more in common with the 2013 Angels.

We also started 6-14 (and 7-15) last year and dug ourselves a hole we couldn't get out of.

Two can play the 6-14 game.

The good news is that you should stomp all over the AAAstros.  :D

Now if you get swept or lose the series may the baseball gods have mercy on your souls...you might be in for a bumpy ride this season...

Right now they're handing us our asses.

Thinking back to the spring when most people were counting all the extra wins coming our way because Houston is in the division.

The Angels are giving the Rangers and the Mariners an unfair advantage in the wild card race  :(
