  1. Fourteen years is far too long for a manager and it's clear that Mike's run is over...has been for years. I don't care how much money he's due. Cut your loses, pay him off and begin the process of moving forward. Doesn't matter who the GM is, doesn't matter what the payroll is, doesn't matter who's traded for or what free agents are signed in the off-season; if Scioscia is managing this team next season it'll assuredly be more of the same - only then we'll be looking at 5 straight seasons without a playoff appearance and there'll be no recourse but to fire him at that point anyway. Do it now and get on with it.
  2. My god... is there some real reason why they keep trotting this guy out there? I'd almost rather see Jerome pitch on two days rest.
  3. Great stat! Given that, when 2023 rolls around I'll definitely be keeping my expecations in check and will expect a certain degree of absolute sucktitude throughout the season.
  4. Not that there aren't a litany of other problems to address all over the place at this point, but this team will never sniff another post-season so long as Scioscia is managing. It's just that simple. I've been absolutely convinced of that since last season. He had a nice run but that's over. It's time to move on and try to turn this thing around for next season... no reason not to start with him. Not sure I advocate doing anything at this point in the season (though I'm not necessarily against it, either), but if he's managing the team next season there's no reason to believe that what we've seen each of the last two seasons won't continue.
  5. He should! It was a mistake not to have re-signed him. Knew it then.
  6. I'm not falling for this. I'm hopeful, but refuse to believe or read much into a modest 4-game win streak (the Halos 1st this season). Gonna have to rip off a lot more than that to reel me back in.
  7. This was exactly my thought, as well.
  8. Good loss?? Gave up 9 runs, are now 11 games back and it's only the middle of May....and I think it's gonna get far, far worse before it gets any better! There's no way you can be saying this with a straight face.
  9. Nothing wrong with being positive and maintaining hope, but how come you don't see these "feel-good" type threads after 3-0, 1-hit games or 11-4 drubbings like Monday's game was?
  10. I don't get the sense that there's any impending *catching fire* going to take place with this team.. not really sure why anyone else would either. Three nights ago the team was blanked in Chicago (had 1 hit) and then lost by 7 to kick off a 9-game homestand. There's nothing wrong with being hopeful, but this team needs to string some wins together and/or start winning some series and I'm not sure they're there. Barring that, they're not even gonna come close to making up 9 games and being .500 come June 1st.
  11. There's probably a lot more truth to this than what many want to admit. The blase mentality and overall lack of intensity that's (seems to be) permeating around this team seems to be contagious.
  12. Why would anyone need to look a few years down the line in this particular case to determine the results? Grieinke isn't in an Angel's uniform any longer.
  13. I know I'm certainly convinced.
  14. Trading Hamilton would surely see him start putting up MVP-type numbers again while Wells in Anaheim, well, we read that script for years. There seems to be something about being in an Angel's uniform that (unfortunately) pretty much assures under-performing and suckage if you're a high-priced acquisition.
